A-Level

——————————————— A-LEVEL SPANISH ——————-

I have tutored many students to prepare them for their A-level Spanish exams. I have an excellent understanding of the syllabus and what is required to achieve top grades. I suggest a 10 week programme, during which we will work to develop classwork, on-going course support, vocabulary, grammar, exam paper practice and speaking practice.

IRP SUPPORT: The Individual Research Project is worth 30% of the overall grade and is a project where students pick one aspect of Spanish or Latin American Culture, research it and prepare a presentation and discussion. This is very much a student lead piece of work; however, I can offer support and discussion practise and help students to build up confidence with their chosen theme.

ORAL EXAM PRACTICE: This can be one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the entire course and often what is required is simply conversation time and practice.

LISTENING, READING & WRITING PAPER: Five-hour package to focus on this component of the exam worth 50% of the overall grade. We will review the core subjects including: Aspects of Hispanic Society, Artistic culture in the Hispanic World, Multiculturalism in Hispanic Society and Political Life. We will also cover some of the essential grammar points

WRITING PAPER: This is worth 20% of the exam and requires students to have read / watched set texts and or a film. I have experience tutoring many of the set texts including but not limited to:

  • La Casa de Bernarda Alba, Lorca
  • El laberinto del fauno, Guillermo del Toro
  • Volver, Almodovar

Many of these texts and films I studied in depth while studying Spanish literature at the University of St Andrews.
